Post-TRT Recovery Kinetics

Meaning

Post-TRT recovery kinetics describes the time-dependent physiological processes and rate of change by which the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis attempts to resume endogenous testosterone production following the cessation of Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). This recovery involves the re-establishment of pulsatile Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) secretion and the subsequent return of testicular function. The kinetics are highly variable among individuals, influenced by the duration and dose of prior TRT, patient age, and underlying HPG axis health. Monitoring these kinetics is crucial for a successful transition off therapy.
