Post-TRT Endogenous Stimulation

Meaning

Post-TRT Endogenous Stimulation refers to the clinical strategy employed after discontinuing exogenous Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) to encourage the natural, internal production of testosterone by the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis. Because long-term TRT suppresses the HPG axis, a structured stimulation protocol is necessary to prevent a prolonged period of hypogonadism upon cessation. This intervention typically involves the use of selective agents to restart the pituitary’s release of gonadotropins, thereby signaling the testes to resume testosterone synthesis. The goal is to rapidly restore hormonal homeostasis and preserve fertility following the withdrawal of exogenous androgens.
