Post-Therapy Recovery Time

Meaning

The duration, measured in weeks or months, required for an individual’s suppressed endogenous endocrine axis, such as the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, to fully resume autonomous and clinically adequate hormone production following the cessation of exogenous hormonal therapy. This period is a critical component of the biochemical recalibration debt and is characterized by a temporary state of hormonal insufficiency and potential symptomatic relapse. Clinical management during this time is focused on supportive care to facilitate the axis’s return to a self-regulating baseline.
