Post-Steroid Hypogonadism

Meaning

Post-Steroid Hypogonadism (PSH) is a form of secondary hypogonadism characterized by diminished function of the testes or ovaries following the cessation of exogenous anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) use. The condition results in low endogenous testosterone or estrogen production due to the suppression of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis. Clinically, PSH manifests as symptoms of hormone deficiency, including reduced libido, fatigue, and mood disturbances. Comprehensive hormonal assessment and targeted recovery protocols are necessary to restore normal endocrine function.
