Post-Contraception Symptoms

Meaning

Post-Contraception Symptoms, often referred to in the wellness space as Post-Birth Control Syndrome (PBCS), describes a collection of new or exacerbated adverse signs and symptoms that manifest or persist following the cessation of hormonal contraceptive use. These symptoms are clinically attributed to the temporary dysfunction or slow re-establishment of the body’s endogenous Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Ovarian (HPO) axis. Common clinical presentations include the return of acne, hirsutism, irregular or absent menstrual cycles (amenorrhea), and significant mood disturbances, reflecting the re-emergence of hormonal imbalances.
