Post-Cessation Recovery

Meaning

Post-Cessation Recovery describes the phase of physiological and endocrine restoration that occurs after an individual discontinues a substance, medication, or specific therapeutic intervention that has altered the body’s endogenous hormonal balance. In clinical practice, this often refers to the period required for the hypothalamic-pituitary axes to resume normal, self-regulated function following the cessation of exogenous hormone therapy or chronic suppressive agents. The goal is to re-establish neuroendocrine homeostasis.
