Post-Birth Control Syndrome

Meaning

A constellation of signs and symptoms that may manifest in women following the cessation of hormonal birth control, often persisting for months or years after stopping the medication. These symptoms can include hypothalamic amenorrhea, irregular menstrual cycles, new-onset acne, hair loss, and mood disturbances, reflecting the body’s struggle to re-establish its endogenous hormonal balance. While not a formal medical diagnosis, this clinical pattern represents a recognizable endocrine disruption in clinical practice.
