Pituitary Response Time

Meaning

Pituitary Response Time is the clinically measurable duration between the arrival of a stimulating or inhibiting signal, typically a hypothalamic releasing or inhibiting hormone, and the subsequent change in the secretion rate of a pituitary hormone. This temporal metric is a vital indicator of the pituitary gland’s functional efficiency and the health of the portal circulatory system connecting it to the hypothalamus. A delayed response time can indicate central fatigue or impaired receptor function within the gland.
