Pituitary Re-Sensitization

Meaning

Pituitary Re-Sensitization describes the process of restoring the pituitary gland’s normal responsiveness to regulatory signals, primarily from the hypothalamus. This procedure aims to reverse a state of reduced sensitivity, often caused by sustained exposure to high levels of specific hormones or their analogues, which can lead to receptor downregulation. The objective is to allow the gland to effectively produce and release its own trophic hormones in a physiological manner.
