Pituitary Gonadotrophs

Meaning

Pituitary gonadotrophs are specialized endocrine cells located within the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland, responsible for the synthesis and secretion of two critical glycoprotein hormones: luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These cells play a central role in regulating reproductive physiology across the lifespan.
