Pink Noise Conditioning

Meaning

Pink noise conditioning is a non-invasive, auditory intervention technique that involves presenting pink noise, a specific type of sound characterized by a power spectral density that decreases by 3 dB per octave, in a timed and patterned manner to augment the quality of deep sleep. The objective is to acoustically synchronize with and thereby reinforce the slow-wave oscillations that are the electrophysiological hallmark of restorative slow-wave sleep (SWS). This conditioning is being studied for its potential to enhance memory consolidation and executive cognitive function.
