PI3K Signaling Pathway

Meaning

The PI3K Signaling Pathway, short for Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase pathway, is a critical intracellular signaling cascade that governs fundamental cellular processes, including metabolism, growth, proliferation, survival, and motility. It is a highly conserved and tightly regulated pathway that acts as a major hub for translating external signals, such as those from insulin, growth factors, and hormones, into internal cellular responses. Dysregulation of this pathway is frequently implicated in the pathogenesis of metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, and various malignancies.
