PI3K/AKT/GSK3β Pathway

Meaning

A crucial intracellular signal transduction cascade, formally known as the Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase (PI3K) / Protein Kinase B (AKT) / Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 beta (GSK3β) pathway, which acts as a master regulator of cell survival, proliferation, metabolism, and motility. This pathway is a central effector of growth factors and metabolic hormones, notably insulin, and is critical in hormonal health for mediating glucose uptake, inhibiting apoptosis, and regulating cellular growth. Dysregulation of this cascade is intimately linked to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and various endocrine-related cancers.
