Physiological Steady State

Meaning

Physiological Steady State, or true homeostasis, is the dynamic equilibrium where the body’s internal milieu, including core temperature, pH, and critical hormone concentrations, remains relatively constant despite ongoing internal and external perturbations. Achieving this state requires continuous, subtle adjustments orchestrated primarily by the endocrine and autonomic nervous systems. It is the baseline condition required for optimal cellular function.
