Physiological Rhythmicity

Meaning

Physiological Rhythmicity refers to the precise, predictable, and synchronized cyclical variations in biological processes that occur across various time scales, most notably the 24-hour circadian rhythm. This includes the synchronized oscillation of hormone secretion, body temperature, sleep-wake cycles, and gene expression. Maintaining robust physiological rhythmicity is fundamental to health, as disruption, or chronodisruption, is linked to metabolic dysfunction, endocrine imbalance, and accelerated aging.
