Physiological Resistance

Meaning

A broad term describing the diminished sensitivity or impaired responsiveness of a target tissue, cell, or organ system to a naturally occurring biological signal, whether it be a hormone, neurotransmitter, or nutrient. This resistance disrupts the body’s internal communication and is a fundamental mechanism underlying many chronic diseases and hormonal imbalances. It represents a state where the body’s ‘volume control’ for a specific signal is turned down.
