Physiological Replacement Therapy

Meaning

A clinical approach to hormone therapy that involves administering exogenous hormones in doses and patterns designed to precisely mimic the natural, healthy secretion profile of the endogenous gland, aiming to restore circulating levels to an optimal, pre-decline range. The objective is to provide a replacement that is biologically indistinguishable from the body’s own production, thereby supporting normal cellular function and minimizing the risk of supraphysiological effects or HPA axis suppression. This contrasts with traditional pharmacological dosing.
