Physiological Release

Meaning

Physiological release refers to the secretion of a hormone, neurotransmitter, or other signaling molecule from its producing cell or gland in a manner that closely mimics the natural, endogenous pattern observed in a healthy, optimally functioning organism. This pattern is often pulsatile, rhythmic, or regulated by specific feedback loops, distinguishing it from the continuous, non-regulated administration of exogenous substances. Achieving a physiological release pattern is a primary goal of advanced hormone replacement therapies.
