Physiological Misalignment

Meaning

Physiological Misalignment is a clinical term describing a state where the body’s various homeostatic systems—including the endocrine, circadian, and metabolic axes—are functioning in disharmony rather than coordinated synchrony. This is often observed when modern lifestyle factors, such as shift work, chronic light exposure at night, or irregular eating patterns, conflict with the body’s intrinsic biological rhythms. The resulting discord can manifest as chronic low-grade inflammation, disrupted cortisol diurnal rhythm, and poor insulin sensitivity, predisposing the individual to long-term health decline. Correcting this misalignment is a primary goal of integrative hormonal therapy.
