Physiological GH Release

Meaning

The natural, pulsatile secretion of Growth Hormone (GH) from the somatotroph cells of the anterior pituitary gland, occurring in distinct bursts, predominantly during the early stages of nocturnal sleep and in response to intense exercise or fasting. This release pattern is tightly regulated by the hypothalamic hormones Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH) and somatostatin. Maintaining a healthy, physiological GH release pattern is essential for metabolic regulation, body composition maintenance, and cellular repair throughout the lifespan.
