Physiological Fluctuations

Meaning

Physiological Fluctuations describe the natural, non-pathological, and rhythmic variations in the levels of hormones, metabolites, and other biochemical markers that occur within the body over defined time periods. These essential variations can manifest as diurnal (daily), ultradian (less than 24-hour pulsatile), or infradian (monthly) cycles, and they are necessary for regulating core biological processes. Recognizing these normal rhythmic changes is fundamental for the accurate interpretation of clinical laboratory data.
