Physiological Drag

Meaning

Physiological Drag is a clinical term describing the cumulative, systemic burden on the body’s energy reserves and regulatory capacity caused by chronic, unaddressed stressors or suboptimal biological conditions. This state is characterized by an ongoing, low-grade depletion of metabolic and hormonal resources, which manifests as persistent fatigue, reduced internal resilience, and compromised recovery. The drag represents the constant energy cost of allostatic overload, where the body is perpetually struggling to maintain a stable internal environment.
