Physiological Alterations

Meaning

Physiological alterations are any measurable and observable changes in the normal, healthy functional processes of a living organism, its organs, tissues, or cells. These changes can range from minor, temporary shifts in homeostasis, such as a transient rise in heart rate due to acute emotional stress, to chronic, pathological deviations, like the systemic effects of insulin resistance or prolonged hormone deficiency. In clinical practice, the accurate identification and precise characterization of these alterations is the foundational step in diagnosing imbalance. This allows for the design of targeted therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring optimal function and systemic equilibrium.
