Physiological Adaptation Indexing

Meaning

Physiological Adaptation Indexing is the quantitative measurement and tracking of an organism’s capacity to efficiently adjust and return to a state of homeostasis following exposure to various internal or external stressors. This index evaluates the robustness and flexibility of key regulatory systems, including the autonomic nervous system, the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis, and metabolic reserves. A high index indicates superior resilience, rapid recovery, and a lower allostatic load, which are all critical indicators of high healthspan and biological youth. It serves as a dynamic, measurable proxy for the body’s overall biological reserve.
