Physiologic Signal Fidelity

Meaning

Physiologic Signal Fidelity describes the accuracy and lack of distortion in the transmission of a biological message from its source, such as an endocrine gland, to its distant target cell receptor. High fidelity means the received signal precisely mirrors the intended signal, ensuring appropriate cellular response and efficient homeostatic maintenance. Low fidelity introduces noise or attenuation into the regulatory loop.
