Physiologic Function

Meaning

Physiologic Function is the collective term for the normal, life-sustaining processes and activities carried out by the cells, tissues, and organ systems within the human body. This encompasses everything from basic cellular respiration and energy production to the complex regulation of blood pressure, hormonal secretion, and cognitive processing. Optimal physiologic function is the clinical goal of all health interventions, as it represents a state of robust, efficient, and homeostatic operation. Any deviation from the normal functional range indicates a state of disease or imbalance.
