Physical Capacity Index

Meaning

The Physical Capacity Index (PCI) is a composite, quantitative metric used in clinical practice to assess an individual’s total physiological reserve and functional ability across multiple domains, including aerobic endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and recovery speed. This index provides a single, objective measure of biological age and vitality, reflecting the integrated health of the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and endocrine systems. A higher PCI is directly correlated with greater resilience, improved healthspan, and reduced all-cause mortality risk.
