Photonic Signals

Meaning

Photonic signals, in the context of human physiology, refer to the biological effects and regulatory roles mediated by light energy, specifically electromagnetic radiation, on various cellular and systemic functions. These signals are transduced by specialized photoreceptors and non-visual light-sensing mechanisms, profoundly influencing the body’s circadian rhythm, hormonal release, and local cellular processes. The most clinically relevant photonic signal is the blue light spectrum, which regulates melatonin secretion.
