Pharmacological Kinetics

Meaning

Pharmacological Kinetics, often referred to as Pharmacokinetics (PK), is the quantitative study of the time course of a therapeutic agent’s movement within the body, encompassing the processes of Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME). Understanding a compound’s kinetics is essential for designing effective dosing regimens, predicting drug concentrations at target tissues, and explaining the duration of its biological effect. In hormonal health, PK data informs the choice of hormone ester, route of administration, and frequency of dosing to maintain physiological stability.
