Personal Boundaries

Meaning

Personal Boundaries are the psychological, emotional, and physical limits an individual establishes to define their personal space, energy, and responsibilities in relationships and environments. In the context of hormonal health, the inability to set and enforce these boundaries often leads to chronic psychosocial stress, which directly translates into physiological strain on the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis. Clinical guidance on boundaries is therefore a critical, non-pharmacological intervention for managing stress-induced endocrine dysfunction. Effective boundaries protect the biological system from unnecessary allostatic load.
