Persistent Mental Fatigue

Meaning

Persistent Mental Fatigue is a clinical syndrome characterized by a chronic, pervasive subjective feeling of cognitive exhaustion, diminished mental clarity, and reduced capacity for sustained attention and executive function. This state is distinct from simple drowsiness or physical tiredness and often correlates with measurable neurochemical and hormonal imbalances, including chronic cortisol dysregulation and low neurotransmitter set-points. It represents a significant clinical barrier to productivity and quality of life, indicating a central nervous system energy deficit. It requires a differential diagnosis to exclude other neurological or systemic causes.
