Permissive Inflammation

Meaning

Permissive Inflammation describes a low-grade, persistent state of chronic systemic inflammation that does not present with overt acute symptoms but creates an environment that facilitates or “permits” the development and progression of chronic metabolic and hormonal dysfunctions. This underlying inflammatory milieu interferes with hormone receptor sensitivity and cellular signaling, thereby exacerbating conditions like insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, and adrenal fatigue. It is a state of chronic immune-endocrine crosstalk.
