Permanent Hypogonadism

Meaning

Permanent Hypogonadism is a chronic, irreversible clinical condition characterized by a sustained, non-recoverable deficiency in the production of sex steroid hormones, such as testosterone or estrogen, which mandates lifelong hormone replacement therapy for the patient. This irreversible state results from either congenital failure or irreparable, structural damage to the gonads (primary hypogonadism) or the hypothalamic-pituitary axis (secondary hypogonadism). Unlike transient or functional forms, this condition cannot be resolved by merely stimulating the body’s native hormone production pathways.
