Peripheral Circulation

Meaning

Peripheral circulation refers to the segment of the cardiovascular system comprising the arterioles, capillaries, and venules that are situated in the extremities and outer tissues of the body, away from the central core. This system is critically responsible for the final delivery of oxygen and essential nutrients to the body’s distal tissues and the efficient removal of localized metabolic waste products. The functional status of this circulation is a primary determinant of tissue health, effective thermoregulation, and overall systemic vascular function.
