Perimenopausal Brain Fog

Meaning

A common, non-pathological cognitive complaint experienced by women during the perimenopausal transition, characterized by subjective difficulties with memory retrieval, concentration, and executive function. This state is thought to be transient and is directly correlated with the fluctuating and declining levels of ovarian sex hormones, primarily estrogen. It is a key aspect of the neuroendocrine changes during this life stage.
