Peri-Menopause

Meaning

Peri-menopause defines the physiological transition preceding menopause, marked by significant fluctuations in ovarian hormone production. This phase signifies the gradual decline of ovarian function, ultimately leading to the cessation of menstrual cycles. It is a natural biological process, distinct from menopause itself, which is diagnosed retrospectively after twelve consecutive months of amenorrhea.
