Performance Blunting

Meaning

A measurable reduction in an individual’s peak physical or cognitive capacity, often resulting from chronic physiological stress, subclinical hormonal imbalances, or sustained systemic inflammation. This blunting represents a state where the body’s adaptive reserves are depleted, leading to a noticeable ceiling on potential output. It is a clinical sign of a suboptimal internal environment that prevents the achievement of peak performance metrics.
