Peptide Secretagogues

Meaning

Peptide Secretagogues are a class of therapeutic agents, typically synthetic or bio-identical peptides, that function by stimulating the release of specific endogenous hormones from the body’s endocrine glands. Unlike hormone replacement therapy, which introduces the final hormone, secretagogues act upstream to encourage the body’s own glands to produce and release their hormones in a more natural, pulsatile manner. A prominent example is the use of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH) analogs to stimulate the pituitary gland’s secretion of Growth Hormone. These agents are central to advanced precision endocrinology.
