Peptide Resistance

Meaning

A state of diminished cellular responsiveness to the signaling action of specific peptides, which are short chains of amino acids that function as hormones, growth factors, or neurotransmitters. This resistance means that normal or even elevated levels of the peptide fail to elicit the expected physiological effect at the target tissue. It is a critical form of endocrine dysfunction, analogous to insulin resistance, that compromises systemic communication.
