Peptide Aggregates

Meaning

Peptide aggregates are assemblies of misfolded peptide or protein monomers into larger, ordered, often insoluble structures. These formations typically adopt a cross-beta sheet conformation, leading to the deposition of amyloid fibrils or similar proteinaceous deposits within tissues. This involves a conformational change from a soluble, functional state to an aggregated, pathological state.
