PepT1 Transporter

Meaning

The PepT1 Transporter, or Peptide Transporter 1, is a high-capacity, low-specificity carrier protein situated on the brush border membrane of the small intestine. Its primary physiological role is the uptake of di- and tripeptides derived from dietary protein digestion into the enterocyte. While primarily studied in gastroenterology, its function indirectly supports systemic endocrine health. This transporter is essential for peptide absorption efficiency.
