PEPI Trial

Meaning

The PEPI Trial is an acronym for the Postmenopausal Estrogen/Progestin Interventions Trial, a landmark, multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial conducted in the 1990s. Its primary purpose was to rigorously investigate the effects of various regimens of hormone replacement therapy, specifically estrogen alone versus several combinations of estrogen and progestin, on cardiovascular risk factors in healthy postmenopausal women. The findings significantly contributed to the evidence base for menopausal hormone therapy.
