Pelvic Pain

Meaning

A clinical symptom characterized by discomfort localized to the lower abdominal area, perineum, or lumbosacral region, which may be acute or, more commonly in chronic cases, persistent for six months or longer. This pain is often complex, involving potential origins from the reproductive, urinary, gastrointestinal, or musculoskeletal systems. In the context of hormonal health, it can be a significant manifestation of conditions like endometriosis, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, or hormonal imbalances affecting tissue sensitivity and inflammation. A multidisciplinary approach is often required for accurate diagnosis and effective management.
