Peliosis Hepatis

Meaning

Peliosis Hepatis is a rare, non-neoplastic vascular condition of the liver characterized by the presence of multiple, irregular, blood-filled cystic spaces within the hepatic parenchyma. This condition can range from asymptomatic to causing life-threatening complications like liver rupture and hemorrhage. In the context of hormonal health, it is a known, albeit uncommon, adverse effect associated with the prolonged or high-dose use of certain anabolic androgenic steroids and other hormonal agents.
