Pediatric Growth Disorders

Meaning

A heterogeneous group of clinical conditions in children and adolescents characterized by deviations from the normal range of growth velocity or final adult height, which may be caused by genetic, nutritional, or endocrine factors. Diagnosis requires precise anthropometric measurement and comprehensive evaluation of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis function. These disorders include growth hormone deficiency, short stature, and precocious or delayed puberty.
