PCOS Symptoms

Meaning

PCOS Symptoms are the clinical manifestations of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a common endocrine disorder in women characterized by a triad of hyperandrogenism (excess male hormones), ovulatory dysfunction (irregular or absent menstrual periods), and polycystic ovaries visualized on ultrasound. The most frequent symptoms include hirsutism (excessive body hair), acne, male-pattern hair loss, and chronic anovulation leading to infertility. Furthermore, many individuals with PCOS experience significant metabolic disturbances, such as insulin resistance and dyslipidemia, increasing their long-term risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
