PCOS Infertility

Meaning

PCOS Infertility refers to the specific form of reproductive dysfunction observed in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, characterized primarily by chronic anovulation or oligo-ovulation, which is the irregular or absent release of a mature egg. This is the most common endocrine cause of infertility in women of reproductive age. The condition is driven by a complex interplay of androgen excess, insulin resistance, and a resulting disruption of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Effective clinical management focuses on restoring ovulatory function, often through lifestyle modification, insulin-sensitizing agents, or controlled ovarian stimulation to facilitate conception.
