Patient-Reported Outcome

Meaning

A Patient-Reported Outcome (PRO) is any measure of a patient’s health status that comes directly from the patient, without interpretation by a clinician or anyone else. In hormonal health, PROs capture the subjective experience of symptoms—such as fatigue, mood changes, libido, and sleep quality—that are critical indicators of endocrine balance but are not always quantifiable by laboratory biomarkers alone. These outcomes are invaluable in personalized care, providing a holistic view of treatment efficacy and quality of life, which often correlates more closely with patient satisfaction than blood test results. Integrating PROs ensures that clinical success is defined by the patient’s lived experience.
