Pancreatitis

Meaning

Pancreatitis is a serious clinical condition characterized by inflammation of the pancreas, the endocrine and exocrine organ responsible for producing digestive enzymes and key metabolic hormones like insulin and glucagon. The inflammation can be acute or chronic, leading to significant abdominal pain and potentially life-threatening complications due to autodigestion of the organ tissue. Its presence severely impacts the body’s ability to regulate glucose and digest nutrients.
