Oxidative Stress Biomarkers

Meaning

Oxidative Stress Biomarkers are quantifiable molecular indicators in biological fluids or tissues that reflect the extent of damage caused by an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body’s antioxidant defense capacity. Measuring these markers provides a clinical assessment of the systemic load of free radical damage to essential cellular components like lipids, proteins, and DNA. Elevated levels are often correlated with chronic inflammation, accelerated aging, and the pathogenesis of various non-communicable, degenerative diseases.
